Placer Icons

Geocaching finds by placer Greasemonkey script

Placer icons

And, you can make your own, too! Fill in the form here, entering the placer's name, ID (visible in the forums and on G:UK) and, optionally an icon.

I'll just note this, since so many people have been asking. Your own webspace is not required to use one of these scripts since they are installed to your local computer. However you should not link other people to the generated script, as it will be deleted automatically at midnight. Instead, if you wish to share your script, upload it to your own webspace and then link people to it.

History

It was noted on the UK geocaching forums that it would be nice if there was a siloans version of the original Simply Paul icon Greasemonkey script. After throwing together a few scripts, and asking GeocacheUK nicely, I was able to put together not only a siloans script, but also make the Simply Paul script more accurate, AND be able to make the script apply to any placer, for example purple_pineapple!

From the original site:

"A bit of fun prompted by a forum thread about "whos done the most Simply Paul caches" this script adds a "Simply Paul" Cache icon to your stats page."

"Simply Paul" is the UK's most prolific cache placer with around 130 caches to his name, if your cacher alias appears on Gary & Jane's A League Table of found-SP-caches by finder then you should get an additional icon. Likewise any other cacher profiles you visit will show the icon (where appropriate)."

My original method was to use GSAK as a data source, and emulate the list. This became unmanageable and posted a quick note to G:UK asking if an option was available there. It was :)
